GEV Testing Method – update April 2022

14-04-2022

Recently, an updated version of the GEV Testing Method as well as the corresponding product matrix and product index were published.

This version replaces the 27.04.2020 version and includes the following products into the EMICODE system:

  • Repair fillers and mortars for concrete repair with a max. grain size of 3 mm
These are to be tested in the same way as cement and calcium sulfate-based levelling compounds (product group 2.1) with a layer thickness of 3 mm and a loading factor of 0.4 m²/m³.
  • Thick-bed mortars with a max. grain size of 4 mm
Thick-bed mortars with a maximum grain size of 4 mm are to be tested like thin-bed and medium-bed mortars (product group 2.2) with a layer thickness of 3 mm and a loading factor of 0.4 m²/m³.
  • Chemical anchors
Chemical anchors are to be tested like joint sealants (product group 5.1) with a layer thickness of 3 mm and a joint width of 10 mm and a loading factor of 0.007 m²/m³.
  • Mineral or gypsum-based base plasters for indoor applications
Base plasters based on mineral or gypsum should be tested after a preconditioning period of 7 days with a layer thickness of 3 mm and a loading factor of 1.0 m²/m³ (new product group 8.1).
  • Mineral- or dispersion-based finishing and top plasters for indoor applications
The mineral or dispersion-based finishing and top renders should also be preconditioned for 7 days and then be tested with 2.5 kg/m² and a loading factor of 1.0 m²/m³ (new product group 8.2).
  • Wall filler for thin-layer and partial applications
Wall fillers, however, shall not be preconditioned. These are tested with 300 g/m² and a loading factor of 1.0 m²/m³ (new product group 8.3).

In addition there has been a change for the testing of wall panels. From now on, these are no longer to be tested in the same way as floor installation boards, decoupling panels and insulation boards (loading factor 0.4 m²/m³), but also with the higher loading factor of 1.0 m²/m³ (new product group 8.4).
