German AgBB scheme – update June 2021

On 16th June 2021, the German Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt – UBA) published the updated AgBB scheme which is in connection with the principles of the German Institute for Structural Engineering (Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik – DIBt) the relevant standard for testing and health evaluation of volatile organic compounds (VVOC, VOC and SVOC) from construction products.

The procedure for product testing, its background and the evaluation may be found here in detail.

At its meeting on 20 February 2008, the AgBB decided that when revised versions of the AgBB evaluation scheme and updated LCI lists are published, the relevant previous version will continue to apply for one more year. This was done in order to give the manufacturers concerned sufficient time to adapt their products to the new requirements.

2021 changes include adoptation of the corresponding EU LCI values in the 2020 LCI/NIK list. For some substances, however, the adoption of the EU LCI values is still under discussion in the AgBB. The compound neodecanoic acid (No. 9-11, CAS 26896-20-8) is newly added to the AgBB LCI/NIK list. For a complete changes overview and testing proposal you can contact Marc Lor via
